I cannot believe that it is almost 2018. As I look back and reflect on what 2017 has brought my way, I recognize that it has been one of the best years yet.
I finally got a pug of my own and he is the sweetest, most adorable thing in the world.
I attended Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival for the first time with my best friend.
I visited the mountains twice this year. Something I have not done since I was a kid.
And I started this blog that has quickly become a favorite and passionate hobby of mine.
There have been engagements, weddings, babies, new homes, and so much more to celebrate. There have been many tough times as well. But most importantly, all of my loved ones are healthy overall and we continue to create even more memories. New Year’s Eve is a time to reflect on the past but celebrate the present and future. What better way to do that than with your family, friends and a fun drink in hand!
I have seen this idea at weddings in the past and thought it was a fun and simple twist on a traditional champagne toast. You obviously could just get whatever color or flavor rock candy you want and toss each into a champagne flute, but I wanted to add a little flare.
Gold glitter spray-on food coloring
I chose original and pink rock candies and edible gold glitter spray-on food coloring because how fucking cool is that? And sparkly. I am a little partial to this color scheme after all.
Now, this is where you can get creative. Take the spray-on food coloring and go to town! I sprayed some of the clear rock candies halfway with the food coloring and sprayed some all the way with it. I decided to leave some of the pink ones how they were, but did a light spray of the gold glitter food coloring on a few. I loved how they turned out!
When midnight starts creeping, it is time to serve! I got the cheap champagne because really it all ends up giving you a headache. Plus, I may (will) be a tad hungover anyway. So, pour up your fave champagne, pop in a rock candy stirrer and get ready for the countdown. Cheers!
I hope you all have an amazing NYE and an even better 2018.
